PennMedia.com Ad Network
Exceeds Nine Million Subscribers
11/15/99 -- PennMedia.com, the largest e-mail newsletter advertising network, announced
today that it has surpassed nine million opt-in subscribers.
The network features more than 250 different e-mail newsletters; subscribers opt-in to
receive content of their choice via e-mail on a daily or weekly basis. All of the
publications are free and subsidized by advertising. For advertisers, PennMedia.com breaks
down the subscriber base into eight categories: http://www.pennmedia.com/pages/extras/catslist.html
"E-mail newsletter advertising is the fastest growing segment of permission based
marketing," said Jaffer Ali, president and CEO of PennMedia.com. "The reason is
simple. People opt-in to receive content they want to receive and they open their e-mail
to read it. Also, if they read something they particularly like, they forward the
e-mail newsletter to friends -- giving the advertiser a tremendous additional readership.
It is a combination of 'viral marketing' and permission based marketing rolled into
one."
PennMedia.com has experienced tremendous growth over the last year. Since May, the number
of newsletters has increased by 200%, and the subscriber based is up 300%. The network is
projected to have over 300 newsletters and 10 million subscribers by year's end.
PennMedia.com is a privately held company based in Tinley Park, IL. All of the executive
staff have extensive direct marketing backgrounds and are applying those principles to the
Internet ad space. PennMedia.com clients include: Columbia House, Zing, BestQuote.com,
RockLoans.com, Beyond.com, DoubleDay, CDNOW and National Child Support.
